We are proud to present this report covering many of the research, education and outreach activities at Z_GIS during 2006 and 2007. All papers published in Landscape Ecology

from its origin in 1987 through 1997 are now available for free downloading as PDF files. This includes all 156 articles published prior to the journal being acquired by Kluwer Academic Publishers (KAP). The journal Landscape Ecology was established in 1987, marking the beginning of new growth and synergy within the field. The journal particularly linked the emerging North American strain of landscape ecology with the more established European traditions. The early years of the journal contained many key papers that have helped form the development of landscape ecology in many sub-areas.
