Aufgaben und Ziele
Kompetenznetzwerke gewinnen zunehmend an Bedeutung. Sie bündeln fachlich-regionale Ressourcen und erhöhen die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit am Markt. Im Kompetenznetzwerk für Geoinformatik agieren regionale Akteure aus Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft um hochwertige Innovationen und marktfähige Produkte für den Geoinformatinsmarkt in Niedersachsen hervorzubringen.

Standards Working Group Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC)

The FGDC is composed of representatives from the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Energy, Housing and Urban Development, the Interior, State, and Transportation; the Environmental Protection Agency; the Federal Emergency Management Agency; the Library of Congress; the National Aeronautics and Space Administration; the National Archives and Records Administration; and the Tennessee Valley Authority. Additional Federal agencies participate on FGDC subcommittees and working groups. The Department of the Interior chairs the committee.

The Geoscience Information Society
facilitates the exchange of information in the geosciences through cooperation among
scientists, librarians, editors, cartographers, educators, and information professionals.
GSIS is a member society of the American Geological Institute (AGI),
and an associated society of the Geological Society of America (GSA).
