ABSTRACT
UAVs are unmanned aerial vehicles. Hence, UAV photogrammetry can be understood as a new photogrammetric measurement tool. UAV photogrammetry opens various new applications in the close range domain, combining aerial and terrestrial photogrammetry, but also introduces low-cost alternatives to the classical manned aerial photogrammtery. This thesis deals with the challenging task: “The use of UAV systems as photogrammetric data acquisition platforms” and the work was conducted by the author at IGP at ETH Zurich from 2003 to 2009.

Power to the people
January was an important month for GIS Development. We came out with our 150th issue and we held our flagship event, Map India 2010. The theme of the event was “Defining a Geospatial Vision for India”. With 1200 plus delegates, 28 countries and 41 exhibitors, clearly the vision was full of promise; and why not? While on the one hand Joseph Stiglitz calls for another round of stimuli for the economy of the developed world, on the other hand India shows a seven percent growth amongst all the gloom and doom. President Obama declares that India will not wait and to protect American jobs he promises to withdraw tax reliefs to companies who take jobs out of America. All these are part of this vision which shows India’s strong growth.

Modeling relationship between runoff and soil properties in dry-farming lands, NW Iran
Abgelegt unter: Landwirtschaft | RSS 2.0 | TB | Tags: agricultural, soil properties | Keine Kommentare
Abstract
The process of transformation of rainfall into runoff over a catchment is very complex and exhibits both temporal and spatial variability. However, in a semi-arid area this variability is mainly controlled by the physical and chemical properties of the soil sur- 5 face. Developing an accurate and easily-used model that can appropriately determine the runoff generation value is of strong demand. In this study a simple, an empirically based model developed to explore effect of soil properties on runoff generation. Thirty six dry-farming lands under follow conditions in a semi-arid agricultural zone in Hashtroud, NW Iran were considered to installation of runoff plots. Runoff volume 10 was measured at down part of standard plots under natural rainfall events from March 2005 to March 2007. Results indicated that soils were mainly clay loam having 36.7% sand, 31.6% silt and 32.0% clay, and calcareous with about 13% lime.

creating GIS on the pilot area of the Litoměřice district – From Soil Survey to International Information Systems
Abgelegt unter: Forschung | RSS 2.0 | TB | Tags: GIS | Keine Kommentare
The procedure of processing and utilising the soil information entering the SOTER system is tested on the pilot area of the Litoměřice district. The reliability of the archive data is examined, the archive data being updated by a new soil survey, modern (geo)statistical methods, and pedotransfer rules. Using the SOTER methodology, a soil map of the district with the scale of 1:50 000 has been developed. Proposals for the adjustments to the currently valid soil classification system are processed.

ABSTRACT
In the Republic of China on Taiwan, photogrammetry is widely applied to topographic mapping, land use classification, water and soil conservation, and civil engineering projects; while remote sensing techniques are used for weather forcasting, damage investigation, natural resources monitoring, and agriculture and forest inventories. The equipment and techniques of digital mapping are increased and improved to provide data for the geographic information system (GIS) which consists of nine data bases, namely: natural environment, natural resources and ecology, environmental quality, social and economic, fraffic network, land, regional and urban planning, public pipe line and topographic map date bases. The islandwide digital elevation model has been scanned with 4Ox40 m intervals. Photogrammetry and remote sensing courses are taught in the departments of survey engineering at the Chungcheng Institute of Technology and the Chengkung University, and also taught in departments of geography, geology, forestry and civil engineering at other universities and colleges.
